GuyanaHub advertising policy

Plain-language rules. GuyanaHub can refuse or remove any ad at its discretion.

1. Everything is labelled

  • Every paid placement says "Sponsored / Patrocinado". Sponsorship bars say "Presented by / Presentado por {name}".
  • Sponsored articles carry the label at the top and in the page title area, name who paid, and are listed under "Sponsored" in the blog. They are written to be fair and factual and must pass our claims check. Buying an ad never buys editorial coverage, reviews, rankings in organic search or changes to the news headlines.

2. Contextual ads only, no tracking

  • Ads are placed by page and section only. No tracking cookies, no pixels, no fingerprinting, no user profiles, no retargeting, no sale or sharing of visitor data.
  • Advertisers receive totals only (views, clicks per slot per month), never personal data.
  • Advertiser scripts, tags and third-party ad networks are not allowed.

3. Every ad is approved by a person

  • A staff member reviews each image, text and landing page before it goes live, and again when it changes.
  • The advertiser warrants that it owns or has licensed all images, logos, music, text and trademarks it supplies, that all claims are true and can be proved, and that the business holds the licences its trade needs.
  • We may ask for proof: a business registration, a trade licence, a licence for regulated goods, or evidence for a claim.
  • If the landing page changes into something prohibited, the ad comes down.

4. Prohibited (we never accept)

  1. Gambling and betting of any kind, including lotteries, sports betting, casinos and online gaming that pays prizes.
  2. Tobacco, vapes and e-cigarettes, and any tobacco sponsorship. (The Tobacco Control Act 2017 bans tobacco advertising, including online.)
  3. Alcohol: none at launch.
  4. Weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks for sale, and their accessories.
  5. Adult content, escorts, dating services other than our own, and sexualised imagery.
  6. Crypto, forex, "investment clubs", get-rich-quick schemes, pyramid and Ponzi schemes, and any offer of guaranteed returns.
  7. Multi-level marketing (MLM) recruitment.
  8. Payday lenders and loan sharks, and any lending not by a licensed bank, credit union or registered lender. Debt-relief or "credit repair" offers.
  9. Gold or mineral buying unless the advertiser shows a valid Guyana Gold Board dealer licence or GGMC trader's licence. Pending applications don't count.
  10. Immigration, visa, work-permit or "green card" services, and overseas job recruitment that charges fees (high scam risk).
  11. Health claims: no cures, treatments, weight-loss or "miracle" claims, and no prescription medicines. Licensed pharmacies, clinics and doctors may advertise name, services, hours and prices without outcome claims.
  12. Political and election ads, including issue ads by parties, candidates, government campaigns or lobby groups. Neutral public-service notices (for example vaccination days or registration deadlines) only with Carlos's approval, at no charge or a fixed fee.
  13. Religious or ethnic attacks, hate, discrimination, or job ads that discriminate by race, religion, sex, age or ethnicity.
  14. Counterfeit or pirated goods, including IPTV or streaming subscriptions without proof of rights, cracked software, and replica brands.
  15. Illegal products or services, drugs, wildlife, and anything needing a licence the advertiser doesn't have.
  16. Misleading ads: fake prices, "free" with hidden costs, false urgency, fake reviews or endorsements, or impersonating a government agency, a bank or another business (Consumer Affairs Act 2011, s.33).
  17. Shock, gore or fear content, and ads that copy GuyanaHub's own design to look like editorial content.

5. Restricted (allowed with extra checks)

  • Real estate: must show who is selling (an agent or the owner) and no guaranteed returns.
  • Education and training: must not claim accreditation it doesn't have.
  • Financial services: only licensed banks, credit unions and insurers, with no rate claims without terms.
  • Events with alcohol: 18+ events marked "18+".
  • Spanish-language ads: checked by a Spanish reader before approval. The "Se habla español" badge only for businesses that really serve customers in Spanish.

6. Sensitive placement

No ads on youth or kids areas, chat, dating, safety, account or legal pages, the takedown page, the radio pop-out, or sensitive history pages (see PLACEMENT.md). No ads next to tragedy or crime headlines.

7. Children

Ads must not target or appeal to children, and nothing is shown in kids or youth areas.

8. Takedowns and complaints

Anyone can report an ad at service@computingcore.net. We review within 24 hours (target) and remove first if a report looks valid. The rights holder or regulator wins ties.

9. Payment

Cash, MMG, or Bank transfer (GBTI or RBL). Bank details are sent on request only. No cheques. Ads go live only after payment is received.

10. Our own products

Computing Core house ads follow the same rules and labels.

Payment: Cash, MMG, or Bank transfer (GBTI or RBL). Bank details are sent on request only.
